So, after taking what has seemed like an eternal break from making pictures, thanks largely to all that life throws at you when you have a son as energetic as ours, I have found myself falling in love with a medium that, to this point, I had never dared to venture into - film photography. Specifically, large and medium format film.
My most recent purchase is an old Mamiya RB67 medium format film camera. Built back in the 19-somethings, this camera is an absolute beast.
The camera is both a joy and an absolute pain to use. It weighs about the same as a brick (yes, the ones you use to build houses) and it has similar ergonomics. But, at the same time, the process of getting an image from this camera is just amazing. It forces you to slow down, to breathe, and really think about the shot you are going to take.
The following images are a selection of images from my first roll of Portra 400. Looking forward to progressing my skills with this camera.
